VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition Rom done none other than yours truly has been updated today to Android 2.3.5 and CM7 Latest Source. Many bug fixes were included as well as an update to VTL.Launcher which includes 3d screen transitions for the desktop and the side docks now have show/hide buttons to clean up that desktop space even more. All Current Market issues have been fixed and the Tablet can now run on the Standard 160dpi unlike previous versions that had to use a dpi hack in order for the market to work correctly. This may fix many apps that may not have been quite displaying correctly.
What is best about this new release as now there are two versions available. One for the current stock and supported bootloader release from Viewsonic dubbed 1.1 as well as the more recent 1.2 version that has been floating around and has been seen shipped on some tablets that were most likely updated return stock. So pick your ROM DOWNLOAD carefully as you wouldn’t want to have to bust out the old NVFLASH instructions.
The update was posted on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17025872 and the site http://vegantab.gojimi.com

slimm609 over on the xda forums has managed to get a (work in progress) process figured out to install BackTrack 5 based off Ubuntu on to the G-Tablet.
…this has been tested on vegan 5.1 with the gtab/zpad 1.4 OC kernel. Its still a little buggy with random reboots depending on what your are doing but it is a WIP
Now this is done using some chroot +VNC magikry but it doesn’t make it any less cool! Head on over to the main post and keep an eye on his progress, lend a hand or hit the thanks button so he knows you appreciate his efforts! We love it when you do that kind of thing!
Warning this isn’t for the faint of heart…. some Linux knowledge is helpful…. you were warned.

ATTENTION – IF YOU ARE ON STOCK 4349+ or any MOD BASED OFF 4349+ USING THE NEW LOCKED BOOTLOADER! READ PLEASE!
Starting with the most recent update to Tap N Tap Viewsonic has introduced a new LOCKED Bootloader. This bootloader is locked in the sense that only a stock kernel will be allowed to boot on your device! This bootloader provides absolutely no advantage other than being able to boot any new STOCK kernels. Since we don’t want the STOCK KERNEL and would rather prefer one of Pershoot’s standard and newly Overclocked kernels or one of Clemsysn’s kernels on MOST of our Modded ROM’s you must Downgrade your bootloader and TNT Version before you flash a new kernel or a new ROM.
Please download the following downgrade update.zip and place it on your sdcard renaming it to “update.zip”.
http://www.gtabdevs.com/releases/4349_Downgrade.zip
Then power down your device. And power back up while holding the power button and vol + till your display says “recovery key detected” in the top left corner.
Using the volume keys to navigate up/down in the menu highlight “Apply Internal update.zip” if you copied the update.zip to the internal memory or “Apply External SDCard update.zip” if you happened to place it on an external SDCard and then inserted it before booting to recovery.
Now select the menu choice using the menu key.
This process will take a few minutes. You will see a Box with an arrow and a progress bar while it applies the update…. when it is finished it will reboot to make the changes.
Once the changes are complete your tablet will boot into Tap N Tap version 3588 (cringe). You are now free to follow all the tutorials about installing CWM and/or Kernels/Roms.
Thank you and good luck.
